White point
The exact colour that a screen, camera or standard treats as white.

White is not one fixed colour; it depends on the light. Every colour system therefore has to state which white it means. That reference is the white point. The most common, called D65, represents average daylight at about 6,500 kelvin and is used for the web and television. Printing work often uses D50, a slightly warmer white. If two screens have different white points, the same picture looks bluish on one and yellowish on the other. Cameras adjust their white point for each scene, a setting called white balance.
