Hue
The quality that makes a colour red, yellow, green or blue: its position around the colour wheel.

Hue is what most people mean when they name a colour. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple are hues. It is one of three basic ways to describe any colour, the others being how light or dark it is and how strong or dull it is. Pink and maroon, for example, share a red hue but differ in lightness. Hues are usually arranged in a circle, because red blends through purple back to blue without a break. White, black and pure greys have no hue at all.
