Colourway
One of several colour versions in which the same pattern or product is made.
Also: colour option, colourways
A fabric printed with the same flowers in blue on white, red on cream and green on black exists in three colourways. The term comes from the textile and wallpaper trades and is now common for trainers, yarn, tiles and almost any product sold in a choice of colours. Designing a colourway is a skill of its own: a pattern that works in one set of colours may look unbalanced in another, because the lights and darks fall in different places. Each colourway is usually given its own name.
